The Blu-ray editions of WALL-E are getting overwhelmingly positive reviews from high definition audio/video aficionados.Writes Ben Williams, independent professional disc reviewer for Blu-ray.com about the 3-disc edition:
Three words: I. Want. Blu-ray."The movie’s video presentation [Specifications: Video codec, MPEG-4 AVC; video resolution, 1080p; aspect ratio, 2.40:1] is truly reference grade and will remain a standard as demonstration material for years to come. The audio presentation [DTS-HD Master Audio 6.1] is equally exceptional and creates a palpable sense of atmosphere and immersion ...Wall-E is a must-own title on Blu-ray... In fact, this is a film that is destined to sell more than a few Blu-ray players. Wall-E easily earns my highest recommendation."

Me too.
what are you waiting for? go get blu-ray! now I say, NOW!
bluray is awesome! I just upgraded my Vista PC with a Pioneer BDC-202 (bluray reader) and the thing that's killing me is that Wall-E won't be released here in Australia until Jan 14th 09. arrgh!
Why don't I own a Blu Ray player!? *cries*
BLU is the BOMB!!! I will be getting Wall-E tomorrow on Blu and can't wait to view it at home. I have a PlayStation 3 and if anyone is interested in getting a Blu-ray disc player, this machine is amazing. And not only can you use it to play your new Wall-E Blu-ray disc, you can also play phenomenal video games and upconvert all your current DVD library to 1080p. It's the best investment I've made in years.
If you don't have Blu-ray yet, it's a must for all you movie lovers this holiday season!
I just put my new dust free Wall E blu ray disk into my ps3 to watch. It's beautiful!! but it does seem to be skipping from time to time. I took it out to look for dust and finger smudges and saw nothing. The skips happen in exactly the same spots. Anyone else have issues?
i noticed... that the absolute beginning skips. no where else does it skip tho.
I purchased Wall-E on Blu-Ray in Canada and it looks great but for some reason my "Audio Options" on the disc list only three choices: "Dolby Digital 5.1", "Dolby Digital 5.1 French" and "Dolby Digital 5.1 Spanish"...no DTS-HD!
Does anyone else have the problem?? Perhaps I've got a flawed disc...
Thanks.
I purchased 2 WALL-E dvd's (not on blu-ray) and both dvd's skip. It's awfully frustrating! I have yet to see the movie!
I have returned my copy twice now and it skips so badly, not just on my DVD player, but also on my PC, so it's clearly a mastering problem. I don't know what to do - is there a contact at Disney?
The Canadian version of Wall E has a DTS HD track it is miss labeled on the audio menu, it is DTS MA jus tlook at your receiver display.
I stumbled upon this site cuz I'm having problems with the regular DVD. I have already exchanged it once, and the new DVD skips too... I think in the same places.
This is my second WALL-E DVD and it also skips. Both discs skipped in the beginning, but stopped later on. (Plays better on my PS2 than my DVD player).
Glad to hear it's not only me, but sure would like a disc that works!!
My Blu-Ray copy skips too... right near the beginning (maybe 7:00 minutes in or so). I took the disc out, cleaned it, same results. Brand new Blu-Ray from Amazon playing on a PS3.
The rest of the movie plays fine, but this was a gift and it should play fine start to finish. I guess I will have to talk to Amazon about getting a replacement.
I can't get mine to start...first comes a bunch of trailers, then finally after loading comes the menu screen - I hit play and then play again(don't want the commentary) and it just sits there doing nothing...what to do?????????
@Irmacmd:
The same happened to me with Kung Fu Panda! The problem was the firmware of my DVD player; It seems that my player, bought in March 2008, had to be "updated" in order to play the most recent blu ray discs; If your player supports firmare updates try to update it and surely the problem will go away. Otherwise, well.. buy yourself a new Player (with firmware update support, via usb or ethernet).
I didn't even get more than one second into the movie before I noticed a glitch so irritating that I took the my Blu-Ray copy back. It's likely a DTS glitch...between the Pixar screen and the movie's beginning, the audio drops out (as seen on the face of my receiver) and cuts off the very first note of music. What an embarrassing flaw. I may have decided to live with it if I could have switched to Dolby Digital like the box says, but it's not there.
Got from Netflix. Played fine BUT, noticed one of the options locked things up (sound adjustment). THEN, after watching it, I downloaded BD-LIVE update the disc said to do. After that... it locked up -- complete BLANK SCREEN. No controls responded. Waited to make sure it wasn't just in progress. Had to turn off the player and hit 'open' right away. Other discs worked fine thank goodness. Tried the Wall-E disc the next day... same problem. Also, the controls don't work when they show at the bottom. I noticed that problem on another Disney disc (received "Lady and the Tramp" -- an error by Netflix). Whatever Disney is doing... they need to fix it. I have a one month old, LG blu-ray player (the one with Netflix built in). It is updated.
