Adding further fuel to the rumours that Pixar is indeed working on a sequel to Monsters, Inc. (something I've been very confident about for a while), Jim Hill of Jim Hill Media reported today in a new post that potential licensees attending the 2009 Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas last week were told about Monsters, Inc. 2, after having been "sworn to secrecy" (read: made to sign a non-disclosure agreement).Jim Hill has had issues with accuracy in the past, so caution is in order, but hopefully the story is true and we're getting closer to an actual public confirmation from Pixar, something which this story is certainly not. ¡cough! /Film, Upcoming Pixar, Cinema Blend headlines ¡cough!
An interesting tidbit: When I interviewed Peter Sohn last month I asked him about Monsters, Inc. 2 at the end of the call. He was about to say something —"I can't..."— but the Pixar publicist listening in made sure he didn't finish the sentence!

Hey, it's martini833 from Upcoming Pixar and I'm just gonna "cough cough" over here to say that the title is: "Monsters, Inc. 2 Confirmed?!"
*cough* Question Mark *cough*
Passage from my post: "...this rumored (or is it confirmed?) sequel..."
;P
Yeah Jim Hill isn't the best source, but you've gotta admit, Monsters, Inc. 2 is a sure bet.
Don't be mean to Upcoming Pixar. :)
But thanks for the link anyhow Mike! :D
I was just kidding, you know! :)
Oh Alec,
It looks like our dreams are coming true....more Wazowski. Pixar's best character to date!
if you're creating a movie, why can't anyone talk about it? it doesn't make sense to me, but if there's a valid reason, i'm open to hearing it
It will also be an....incredibles sequel????
hey mike mosnter inc 2 is going be have or not . they need more new pixar movies .
What did Peter say? What did he say? How about Pete? Will he direct?
Oh man, I'm torn. On one hand I hate Pixar doing all these sequels. On the other, I kinda like to return to Monstropolis, what if they can think of a new set piece as grand as the Hall of Doors!
I bet after Brad Bird gets down with 1906 Disney will try to get him to commit to an Incredibles sequel, now that they're obviously in the sequel business.
I just hope we can see that before 2020.
Very interesting. I think Monsters Inc. would make for a good sequel, especially compared to Cars, which I'm not sure would translate as well in another installment.
oh man, monsters inc. has to be one of my all-time favorites! i wonder what the plot would be... a grown up boo? or a new kid altogether? i'd love to see how they would create that sequel!!
At Upcoming Pixar they reported that another sequel besides Cars 2 was to be released, but nothing else.
Monsters Inc 2 doesn't totally hold my interest but I'm thinking that it may be The Incredibles 2. Brad Bird has said that he has some ideas, but he won't go to work on them until 1906 is finished.
This is an outrage because I'm not even looking forward to 1906--it looks a bit like Titanic in a since of the disaster, and Titanic is my #3 least favorite movie.
OK, here's my list of favorite Pixar movies.
1. WALL-E
2. Up
3. The Incredibles
4. Finding Nemo
5. Cars
6. Ratatouille
7. Monsters, Inc.
8. Toy Story 2
9. A Bug's Life
10. Toy Story
So as you can see, Monsters Inc 2 would not be something I would rather see a sequel to. And actually, I can't see Docter doing an Up sequel either. Brad Bird and Andrew Stanton's movies are something else...
Hey Mike, this is very off-topic, but I'm wondering? You said that you recorded your phone conservation with Pete Sohn. How exactly do you record from a phone?
Using a mini telephone recording adapter that allows you to connect the handset to a microtape recorder.
Something like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2104040
Howdy...if you search Andrew Stanton or Pete Docter on imdb, under the "In development" heading, it lists MONSTERS INC 2.
Also, you can imdb search the sequel and see that it is listed as having a 2012 release date!!!
